Having been raised in a small farm town in southern Illinois not far from St. Louis, Richard and Roger Roessler, founders of Roessler Wines, had fond memories of
the area and the Cardinals that were so popular there. When the opportunity arose to produce a Pinot Noir that expressed the bright red fruit and lovely aromatics of the Russian River area, the perfect name seemed to be “Red Birds!” To this day they still enjoy it when they have the opportunity to see them, bringing back those memories
of earlier years.
